South-East Amsterdam still has the reputation of being one of the most dangerous areas in the city. Nevertheless, the quality of living here has improved a lot in recent years and flats are still more affordable then most other districts.
This southeast Amsterdam area doesn’t have the best reputation. Bijlmer has one the highest crime incidents in the city. Of course, we’re talking about Dutch standards, nothing that a Latin American hasn’t seen before. Nevertheless, this is a generalization. Bijlmer has a lot of metro stops and is where Arena is located. Arena is Ajax football stadium area, where also you can find cinemas and sports megastores. Also, the Heineken Concert Hall and the modern Ziggo Dome are located in Bijlmer.
